Rupert Huber

Symphony of Encounters | Symphony of Encounters

Rupert Huber is fascinated by the poetic-musical potential of physical encounters and what each person contributes to the whole simply through their presence. Following this idea, the composer created the participatory music installation Symphony of Encounters in the Wundergarten of the Graz Museum Schlossberg in collaboration with the AVL Cultural Foundation. Visitors’ movements were recorded, allowing musical objects to resound and interact with each other. The result was a musical network of relationships between people, art and technology.

Biography:
Rupert Huber is a composer best known for his piano music and music installations. His theory of composing, which he calls “Dimensional Music”, takes into account physical space and a variety of possibilities to create a social and participatory musical architecture. For several years, Rupert Huber has been working with the Irvine instrument and exploring its tonal and compositional possibilities. Based on this, Huber has developed a notation for the unique instrument, which can also be heard in the Symphony of Encounters.

This installation is kindly supported by the AVL Cultural Foundation realized.
