SPH\u00c4REN<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n

Drei von den Besucher:innen begehbare Sph\u00e4ren tun sich im Innenhof des Graz Museum Schlossberg auf. Es sind riesige dreidimensionale Kugeln, die von unscharfen, aber doch lesbaren Texten definiert werden. Die leuchtenden Zeilen kreisen um unsichtbare Mittelpunkte, die Kugeln schweben auf und nieder. Jede der Sph\u00e4ren hat einen eigenen Themenschwerpunkt, die erste zeigt Texte der steirischen Schriftstellerin Rosa Pock, die vom Schreiben, von der Vielseitigkeit der Hand erz\u00e4hlt, die Hand die aber auch \u201eschon das Jenseits ber\u00fchrt\u201c, und so den Raum erz\u00e4hlerisch erweitert. Die zweite Sph\u00e4re zitiert Ludwig Wittgenstein, der sich mit Bild, Beschreibung, und Sprache mit Wahrnehmung besch\u00e4ftigte. Die dritte Sph\u00e4re erz\u00e4hlt von Raum und R\u00e4umlichkeit, Aktionsraum und von Unendlichkeit. Um das digitale Kunstwerk sichtbar zu machen, ist die App \u201eIony<\/a>\u201c erforderlich. <\/p>\n\n

A projection on the fortress wall ties these augmented reality sculptures together in the courtyard and also opens up a seemingly three-dimensional space. As in other works, Eva Schlegel, Valerie Messini and Damjan Minovski also deal with the concept of space, the immaterial and the relationship between images and language in \u2018Spheres\u2019. The collaboratively developed AR sculptures in \u2018Spheres\u2019 expand the exploration of space, perception and the connection between humans and objects. <\/p>\n\n

biography<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Eva Schlegel lives and works in Vienna. From 1997 to 2006, she was professor of art and photography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 2011, she was curator of the Austrian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale.In 1988 and 1992, she participated in the Sydney Biennale, in 1990 in Aperto Venice, in 1995 she designed the Austrian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale together with Coop Himmelblau, and in 2017 she participated in the Kochin Biennale in India. Solo exhibitions and exhibition participations in long-standing collaboration with the galleries Krinzinger (Vienna), Wendi Norris (San Francisco) and Bo Bjerggard (Copenhagen), as well as in numerous Austrian and international galleries, museums and institutions, including MAK (Vienna), Brooklyn Museum (New York), LACMA (Los Angeles) and Oklahoma Contemporary (Oklahoma City). She has realised numerous permanent site-specific projects, including in Basel, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Mumbai and San Francisco. Her works are represented in the collections of the Albertina and Belvedere in Vienna, LACMA in Los Angeles, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and the Carlsberg Foundation in Denmark, among others. Valerie Messini is an architect, digital artist and postdoctoral senior scientist at the Peter Weibel Research Institute for Digital Cultures. In her research, she uses digital technologies to explore space, identity, perception and interaction. Her dissertation, \u2018void set \u2013 on emptiness in virtual space,\u2019 was begun under Peter Weibel and supervised by Clemens Apprich after Weibel’s death. She publishes in international journals and presents her work at numerous conferences. Since 2022, she has been teaching the interdisciplinary seminar \u2018OTHER MATTER \u2013 Exploring Spatial and Curatorial Strategies with Augmented Reality\u2019 at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, and since 2024, she has also been teaching \u2018Encyclopaedia of Media\u2019. Previously, she supervised design studios at the Institute of Art and Architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (2022\u201323). From 2013 to 2019, she was a senior lecturer at .\/studio3 \u2013 Institute for Experimental Architecture, University of Innsbruck, where she supervised VR seminars, digital strategies, design courses and master’s theses.She completed her architecture studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Studio Prix) with honours in 2011. She has worked for international architecture firms (including Coop Himmelb(l)au [AUT], Sn\u00f8hetta [NO], Flying Elephant Studio [IN]) and has realised several large-scale installations with Eva Schlegel. She has been a civil engineer since 2017. In 2018, she founded Studio 2MVD with Damjan Minovski, which is dedicated to combining architecture with digital art and technology practices.<\/p>\n\n

Damjan Minovski studied architecture at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and graduated in 2011. Since then, he has been working as a freelance artist and researcher in the fields of architecture, visual and digital art. He was a university assistant at the University of Innsbruck and at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Since 2017, he has been working with Valerie Messini under the name 2MVD, focusing on the connection between architecture and innovations and advances in the field of digital art and technology. He currently teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. <\/p>\n\n

Spherical sound comes from Stefan Rigger, who transforms the Schlossbergraum into a sound space in four individual tracks. At irregular intervals, the spheres are energised by fast beats.The perception of the walk-in spheres is altered and influenced by the sound installation.Stefan Rigger Gelato, sound artist, born in Italy, lives and works in Vienna. <\/p>\n\n
