In everyday life, it is usually not easy to change sides, but at Klanglicht it only takes a few steps: with his installation Portal<\/em>, Graz-born artist Alfredo Barsuglia allows visitors to change sides both physically and mentally. He shows them the way with colorful light bulbs. Texts spoken by members of the Schauspielhaus Graz ensemble complete the project. <\/p>\n\n

Biography:<\/strong>Alfredo Barsuglia, born 1980 in Graz, lives and works in Vienna.Barsuglia has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Monsignore Otto Mauer Prize (2019), the State Scholarship for Fine Arts (2017), the Art Promotion Prize of the City of Vienna (2015), the Theodor K\u00f6rner Prize (2013), the Art Promotion Prize of the City of Graz (2007) and the MAK Schindler Scholarship in Los Angeles (2006).<\/p>\n\n

His works have been exhibited at Lentos, Linz (2023), Dominikanerkirche, Museum Krems and donaufestival (2023), Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich (2022), Kunsthaus Graz (2021), Museum of Estonian Architecture in Tallinn, Estonia (2021), Kunsthalle Esch, Luxembourg (2020), Kunstforum Wien (2019), at the MMKK Museum of Modern Art Carinthia, Klagenfurt (2018), at the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna (2015), at the MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma \/ Testaccio (2014), at the ARTPLAY Design and Architecture Center, Moscow (2011) and at the mumok Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna (2010).<\/p>\n\n

In numerous projects in public space, such as Social Pool (2014) in the Mojave Desert, Mariainsel (2018) in F\u00fcrstenfeld, Abriss (2021) in Graz or Back to Now, a project for the European Capital of Culture 2024 in the Salzkammergut, he deals with social values and the boundaries and transitions between the public and private spheres.<\/p>\n\n
